About

The Campus History Digital Collection (CHDC) was started by Oregon Tech librarians in the middle 2000s. It contains digital representations of historical photographs in the custody of the Oregon Tech Library’s University Archives. It also contains the digitized book compiled by Winston Purvine, the first President of the college.

The digitizing of archival materials located in the University Archives began with the photographs of early campus activities and facilities on the Old Campus, located on the Old Fort Road in the former Marine Recuperation Barracks.

What does the collection include?

CHDC follows the history of the present campus from its opening in the fall of 1964, the construction of its buildings, its landmarks such as the “O” on the Hill and the Fountain, and the students’ academic work and extracurricular activities.

The Special Collections staff are adding more photographs to the collection that were donated by the Public Affairs Office. They are in color and will complement the old historic photographs by chronicling more recent events. Oregon Tech faculty, staff, students, and alumni are encouraged to donate their photographs to the Collection.
