Presidential Investiture

Oregon Tech’s Board of Trustees invite the community to attend the investiture of Nagi G. Naganathan, Ph.D., ASME Fellow as the 7th President of Oregon Institute of Technology on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11 a.m.

An investiture is a formal ceremony of conferring the authority and symbols of high office. In higher education, this Board of Trustees-sponsored ceremony is usually held during a new president's first year in office, or at the conclusion of the first year (President Naganathan took office on April 3, 2017). It is an academic ceremony which has symbolized the pursuit of knowledge since the Middle Ages. Today, universities view investitures as opportunities to welcome a new chapter in a university’s history and celebrate as a community.

The date of the investiture aligns with other celebratory university and student events; the public is encouraged to participate in these events.
