Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

I chose Oregon Tech because it gave me the opportunity to pursue something that I loved, which is the environment, and be able to make a difference with the education. Also while getting the chance to further my sports career playing volleyball here at Oregon Tech.

What do you like most about your major?

I like that it is so hands-on. We get to go on field trips a lot, and be able to apply the skills we learn in class to the real-world environment. I also like the diversity and multiple emphasizes that can be applied to the major, such as fire ecology, watershed, botany, wildlife ecology, and many others.

What would be your dream job in your major?

My dream job would be to be a Hydrologist. A Hydrologist is the study of the movement, distribution, and quality of earth’s water systems and sustainability. I’ve always been interested in conservation and water quality, and this is the perfect job to apply both.

What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?

I enjoy to be outside most of the time. I like hikes, and when I go home I like to ride my horses. I play basketball with my dad and brothers, and play in tournaments. I also enjoy getting to play with my young niece and nephew. Basically anything where I get to be with my family is the best time.

What’s your most memorable moment within your school career?

One of my most memorable moments thus far has been when I got to wade in the Link River for one of my environmental labs. I got wear the big wading boots that came up to my chest and we got to collect macroinvertebrates and then got to analyze them all and classify them. By seeing what specimens we found, we could determine the quality of the water. This was just something that I enjoyed the most.
