Biography

Dr. Saber holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University (NCSU). Prior to his PhD, Dr. Saber spent 10 years in metallurgy industries as a R&D engineer and also technical manager on casting, furnace design, and heat treatment of steels, magnesium, aluminum, and titanium alloys. After his Ph.D., Dr. Saber served as a postdoctoral research scholar at NCSU for two years. He was then recruited as an assistant research professor at Portland State University (PSU) in 2015. He has joined Manufacturing & Mechanical Engineering & Technology department at Oregon Tech since 2017 as an associate professor.

Dr. Saber’s research currently focuses on Alloy Design, Solid-State Joining, Non-Equilibrium Processing of Alloys, Nanostructured Materials, and Electroplating, Developments in Lightweight Alloys, Ultra High-Strength Alloys, Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Heat Treatments, Microstructure Characterizations, Thermal Stability of Alloys, Simulation of Microstructure Evolution, Powder Metallurgy, Additive Manufacturing, and High Entropy Alloys. He has been principle investigator on numerous industry sponsored research projects.

Dr. Saber has taught Engineering Materials, Advanced Engineering Materials, and Heat Transfer courses and laboratories.
