I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and was raised in Chihuahua, Mexico (yes, that is a real place) and Hillsboro, Oregon but consider myself to be an Oregonian! Growing up I spent most of my time loving school, and volunteering at schools even during the summer. My passion for education has lead me to work with students who are eager to start their college experience. On my free time I enjoy watching films (while eating popcorn), going out for sushi and spend most days referencing films, shows, or songs and wishing life was as simple as a musical!
BA in Communication Studies, Portland State University
What's Great About Oregon Tech
The commitment from faculty and staff! Our faculty come to our students with expertise in their field which creates a true bond between students and faculty as we have a 15:1 ratio. Small class sizes also means more time spent in labs which is why we let students know that we are truly a hands-on university.
Favorite Place on Campus
Both campuses are great! But my favorite place at the Portland-Metro campus is our Rapid Prototyping Lab. This lab is the only student run lab and it always looks like students are enjoying the space they have to work on projects. Students also call it the “Fish Bowl”. You would have to see it for yourself to get what I mean, so come take a tour!
Why I Enjoy Working in Admissions
I began working in Admissions during my time at Portland State and immediately found joy in providing help to prospective students and their families. Interacting with students is my favorite part about being an admissions counselor and creating more connections with local high schools.
