Dr. Fitzgerald is an experimental psychologist who studies the evolutionary and environmental influences of social behavior. His primary research interests include prosocial behavior, aggression, and perceptions of romantic relationships and infidelity. He currently has published over 25 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 20 book chapters. He also has over 50 conference presentations. His research has been cited over 450 times by other psychological scientists.

Dr. Fitzgerald joined the Applied Psychology faculty at Oregon Tech in the Fall of 2019. He regularly teaches courses focusing on psychological research - such as Psychological Research Methods I, Psychological Research Methods II, and Applied Statistics for the Social Sciences. He is also the Director of the Oregon Tech Well-being Program.

In his free time, Dr. Fitzgerald loves to travel. He has visited 49 U.S. states (has not made it to Alaska yet) and 10 countries.
