Dawn has her BS in Medical Technology from Illinois State University. She did her internship and later worked at the Methodist Medical Center of Illinois. Dawn is certified MLS(ASCP) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She worked as a generalist and night shift lead tech. Later she specialized in hematology and hemostasis at Oregon Health and Science University. She received her Master’s degree in Adult Education / Organization and Human Resource Education from Oregon State University.
Caroline Doty, MS, MT(ASCP) - Associate Professor

Ryan Brown, MS, MLS(ASCP) - Assistant Professor
Teaches Clinical Chemistry and Immunology
Ryan earned his BS in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Arizona State University. Ryan is certified MLS (ASCP) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He started his career as a generalist and later moved into the blood bank. He earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Rosalind Franklin University in 2011.
Rachelle Barrett, BS, MLS(ASCP) - Instructor
Teaches Immunohematology and Foundations of Medical Laboratory Science II and III
Rachelle has bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry from OSU and Medical Laboratory Science from the OIT/OHSU MLS program and a Masters in Medical Laboratory Management from Rush University. Over the past 12 years she has worked as a night shift generalist, a Blood Bank Specialist and a Laboratory Manager in the Willamette Valley all before discovering her love of teaching at the College level. In addition to teaching her classes, she is the program’s Assessment Coordinator. These days she spends her spare time working with new managers in meeting Transfusion Service Compliance Regulations, contributing to curriculum for High School Anatomy Physiology for Hillsboro and Salem School Districts, and judging for the local High school and Middle school Science fairs as well as maintaining an active membership with her local chapter of American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS-OR).
Darrell Mooers, MBA,MLS(ASCP) - Instructor
Teaches Microbiology and Parasitology
Darrell graduated from OHSU’s Clinical Laboratory Science program in 1979 and received an MBA from Willamette University in 1991.The majority of his career has been in managing hospital laboratories. Including small (Santiam Hospital) and large (PeaceHealth Southwest Washington) facilities. Darrell has been involved in hosting Oregon Tech MLS externships for many years and is excited at the opportunity to teach and promote the profession. Darrell has always been active in his community, including coaching high school volleyball for several years. Darrell also enjoys traveling with family and friends.
