Academic Honors

At each Commencement, Oregon Tech recognizes academically outstanding students who will receive their bachelor's degree with academic honors. This honor is based on all Oregon Tech courses. To be eligible for honors a student must complete a minimum of 75 Oregon Tech GPA hours/credits. Academic honors are based on the following criteria:

  • Cum Laude - graduation with honors - 3.50-3.74 GPA
  • Magna Cum Laude - graduation with high honors - 3.75-3.89 GPA
  • Summa Cum Laude - graduation with highest honors - 3.90-4.00 GPA

Note: Students who do not have 75 Oregon Tech GPA hours/credits are not eligible for honors.
Only students graduating from an Online Degree Completion program are eligible for honors if they have less than 75 Oregon Tech credits. Online Degree Completion students must complete a minimum of 45 graded Oregon Tech credits to be eligible for honors and graduation. Degree Completion students who fall into this category have their honors calculated based on ALL Oregon Tech courses and transfer courses used for the degree.

Honors recognized at the graduation ceremony do not include grades from the term immediately preceding Commencement. After final grades are posted, the honors standing for some students may change. These students will be notified. A student's final honor standing will be posted on official transcripts.

Only past and Spring honors are recognized at Commencement both in the program and with honor cords.
Summer graduates will have their final honors listed on their diploma and official transcripts upon completion.
