Radiologic Science Club Treasurer, Radiologic Science Teacher's Assistant

A Little Bit About Me

I was the treasurer for the Radiologic Science Club and managed our club funds so we could hold all of our events throughout the year, including our junior banquet to celebrate our class before we all leave for externship. I was also very involved in the program by being a teacher's assistant for the class below us, which was super fun and rewarding to review last year's material. I am currently an extern in Spokane, WA, at Holy Family Hospital until graduation in June, and I am having a really great time putting my education into practice! After graduation, I plan to continue working as an x-ray tech before applying to PA school.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I knew that I wanted to work in the medical field since I was young, and after having x-rays done, the technology fascinated me and I wanted to learn more about it. Oregon Tech offers a bachelor's degree, while other programs in the state don't, meaning that I can pursue more opportunities after graduation that I could not if I studied somewhere else.

My Influential Professors

All of the Radiologic Science faculty were extremely warm and helpful and I enjoyed all of my classes in the program. I could tell that everybody in the Radiologic Science department really cared about their students and did all that they could to help us succeed.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

Getting hands-on practice with x-ray equipment was extremely valuable because we can enter our clinical experiences with a base of knowledge and confidence in our skills as radiographers. I am glad that I volunteered my time as a teacher's assistant in the underclassmen's labs to refresh on the skills and content that we had learned the year prior.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduating, I plan on taking the registry for x-ray and CT and working in both disciplines. After a few years of working in the field, I want to apply to either PA school or Medical school to become a Radiologist.
