Certificate Overview

This six-class certificate is designed to help you develop the4 skills and understanding of various business systems. You'll gain an introduction to the technology-infused business skills, giving insight and knowledge required to get ahead in today's data-driven global marketplace. The certificate includes foundational management courses long with focused courses in relational databases, operations and supply chain management, and more.  This certificate is customizable based on your professional goals.

Certificate Courses

Starting course (take within first 9 credits):

  • BUS 215 Principles of Management or BUS 304 Engineering Management

Core courses (choose one to three classes):

  • ACC 201 Principles of Accounting
  • BUS 226 Business Law
  • ECO 201 Principles of Microeconomics or ECO 202 Principles of Macroeconomics
  • GIS 134 Geographic Information Systems
  • MIS 113 Intro to Database Systems or MIS 275 Intro to Relational Databases
  • MIS 206 Intro to Management Information Systems

Focused courses (at least three classes):

  • BUS 349 Human Resource Management I
  • BUS 375 Experience in Business Abroad*
  • BUS 441 Leadership I
  • BUS 307 Special Topics
  • MGT 321 Operations Management
  • MGT 322 Supply Chain Management
  • MGT 335 Project Management

18 credits is required for the certificate. An Honors certificate is available to those who complete 21 certificate credits with a cumulative 3.5 gpa. 

*BUS 375 Experience in Business Aboard is an in-person summer travel experience.

Admission Process

Full admission to Oregon Tech is not required. Financial aid is not offered to non-degree seeking students but a payment plan is available. Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Submit the Non-Degree Seeking Application
  2. Watch for an email from the Admissions Office about registration.
  3. Register yourself for classes when registration opens.

 

Students using Veteran Affairs benefits should apply to Oregon Tech using the Online First-Year or Online Transfer application instead of the Non-Degree Seeking application.

Non-degree seeking students do not pay application fees since they are not attending a degree program and are limited to 8 credits per term.

Once registered you are responsible for the tuition and fees. The payment and refund schedule, along with the payment plan application, is located on the Cashier’s Office website. The Academic Calendar details important registration dates and withdraw deadlines.

Awarding the Certificate

Oregon Tech awards formal certificates upon completion of all requirements. The Registrar's Office advises soon-to-be graduates to submit the Application for Degree two terms before completing the certificate. A certificate cannot be awarded without the application found in TechWeb.
