Treehouse

The Treehouse

The Treehouse is a student-run program under Multicultural Life and is housed in the student programs suite on the second floor of the College Union (Klamath Falls campus). The staff works actively against oppression, hate, sexism, racism, inequality and other injustices to promote a safe and welcoming environment for women, people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and other diverse groups.

Our vision is centered on a deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity, inclusivity, and equality for the people of Oregon Tech, Klamath Falls, and the world at large.

The Treehouse formed in the summer of 2018 when the Women’s Resource Center and Diversity Center merged programs in order to provide more support to the students of Oregon Tech.

Events and Programs

The Treehouse regularly plans events that take place during fall, winter, and spring terms. They are stand-alone as well as reoccurring, and events can be in conjunction with other student programs and clubs. If you would like to co-sponsor or plan an event with The Treehouse, stop by our space and let one of our staff members know what you’re thinking!

Women of Color Collective

This event occurs regularly each term and invites the campus community to understand better the complexities and diversity of the lived experiences of Women of Color, build solidarity, and grow community. Free dinner is served at every event.

Cultural Hours

Cultural Hours are an opportunity for the campus to engage in cultures that may be different from their own, by listening to an invited speaker talk about their culture and/or experience. Past cultural hours have included: Chinese New Year, World Religion Day, LGBTQ+ History, and more.

Cultural Club Dinner

Once a term, The Treehouse invites the cultural clubs on campus to attend a dinner where we focus on building community and solidarity. We also ask the cultural clubs how we can better support them and talk about campus issues that concern them.

Women's Health Banquet

Every spring, The Treehouse features a Women’s Health Banquet, inviting keynote speakers and professionals to present on women’s health issues.

Oregon Tech Around the World

Each fall, The Treehouse coordinates an event that highlights the diversity of Oregon Tech students, staff, and faculty by inviting the campus to participate in Oregon Tech Around the World. Community members and cultural clubs present information on their cultures, where they come from, and sometimes serve foods and drinks.
