Schedule an appointment on Handshake!

Handshake is Oregon Tech’s online career management platform. In Handshake you can schedule appointments with a career advisor, search for on-campus jobs, full-time opportunities, and internships, and get more information on employers or career fairs. New opportunities are posted on Handshake year-round, and many employers even reach out directly to schedule interviews—so be sure to check your account regularly.

Access Handshake at oit.joinhandshake.com using your oit.edu and single sign.

All on-campus student employment jobs are posted on Handshake. All on campus student employment jobs are Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible (not all students receive a FWS award). Students on F1 visas may work an on-campus job for 20 hours per week while school is in session. On-campus student employees enrolled in 6 or more credits are exempt from paying Social Security and Medicare taxes during the term.

In-person and virtual career fairs are one of the best ways to connect directly with employers who are looking to hire future interns and full-time employees. Oregon Tech Career Services hosts multiple career fairs each year on both the Klamath Falls and Portland-Metro campuses.

To find upcoming dates, check the Career Fairs webpage, Events tab on Handshake, or visit The Roost, Oregon Tech’s official community event platform.

Career Services has crafted an Internship Search Course available to all currently enrolled students through Canvas. This free, self-paced course guides students through every step of the internship process; from writing standout resumes and cover letters to preparing for interviews with confidence. Students can revisit modules as often as needed and work through the material on their own schedule. Completing the course helps students feel prepared, organized, and competitive as they apply for internships.

All Oregon Tech students have access to Handshake Sidekick. Sidekick is an AI-powered resume helper you can use when you are logged into Handshake. With Sidekick, you can:

  1. Upload an existing resume or start from a resume already stored in your Documents
  2. Chat with an AI assistant to get suggestions for improved wording, structure, and how to highlight your skills
  3. Ask for edits focused on a particular job or type of role
