Dean Alp Represents Oregon Tech at American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Meeting in Washington, D.C. Dr. Nesli Alp, Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Management (ETM) at Oregon Tech, attended the ASEE Public Policy Colloquium (PPC) meeting on February 3-5, 2025, in Washington, D.C. This prestigious gathering brought together engineering deans from across the United States to discuss critical issues in engineering education, research, and workforce development. As Oregon Tech’s representative, Dean Alp engaged in collaborative discussions with fellow deans, focusing on strategies to advance STEM education, enhance diversity in engineering fields, and address the evolving needs of the industry. The ASEE PPC serves as a platform for academic leaders to advocate for policies that support engineering education and innovation at both state and federal levels. During her visit, Dean Alp had the distinct honor of meeting Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, a dedicated advocate for education and technology-driven economic growth. Dean Alp also attended a Science, Space, and Technology hearing at the Capitol, where key discussions centered around federal investments in research, STEM education, and the future of technological advancements in the U.S. Through collaboration with national leaders and policymakers, Dean Alp continues to advocate for initiatives that will strengthen engineering education and provide greater opportunities for future generations of STEM professionals.
