Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) has completed the construction phase for its new urban campus located in Wilsonville. Oregon Tech Wilsonville will officially open in September 2012 and will offer a complete portfolio of high-demand Bachelor and Master degrees designed to serve both full-time and working-professional students.
As a public polytechnic university in the Oregon University System, Oregon Tech is well known for its nationally ranked ABET-accredited engineering programs, technical-education, and health-sciences programs. Oregon Tech is ranked among the top 10 baccalaureate colleges in the western US according to US News & World Report. Oregon Tech also ranks among the best undergraduate engineering programs in the nation for universities focused on education (No. 60 among the best undergraduate engineering programs in the BS and MS universities category).
“The Oregon Tech Wilsonville campus will enable students and working professionals in the Portland metropolitan area to have access to an excellent portfolio of accredited, high-quality, and high-demand programs in engineering, technology, management, and health sciences. These programs consistently achieve outstanding satisfaction from students and employers, result in envious graduate placement rates when compared with any public or private university in the US, and are the reason for Oregon Tech's consistent ranking among the best universities in terms of return on investment [ROI] as reported by Bloomberg Businessweek and other publications." said Associate Provost Dr. Mateo Aboy who leads the Oregon Tech Wilsonville Campus.
The new consolidated campus in Wilsonville enables Oregon Tech to double the number of students it serves in the South Metro Area. The expansion of Oregon Tech has been well received by the City of Wilsonville and supported by the local industry and foundations. As examples, Intel recently donated over $100,000 in high-tech equipment and the Maybelle Clark MacDonald Fund awarded a grant of $150,000 to support Oregon Tech's new campus in Wilsonville.
Elizabeth Hills, a junior in the BS in Information Technology program at Oregon Tech, after visiting the new campus stated, "It is great to finally have a consolidated campus where all the students from all the majors in Portland are able to come together. The campus looks awesome. The facilities, classrooms, and labs are much better than anything we had before. I can't wait for classes to start Fall Term."
Additionally, the new Oregon Tech Wilsonville campus is ideally located to accept transfer students from Portland Community College (Sylvania) and Chemeketa Community College (Salem), located 15 and 25 minutes away, respectively.
