Salem, OR The Oregon Senate confirmed a new trustee for the governing board of the Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech): William “Liam” Perry, a current student at Oregon Tech’s Klamath Falls campus. Trustee Perry will take his seat on July 1.

There are eleven at-large positions on the Board, three positions filled by Faculty, Staff and Student members, and an ex officio position held by Oregon Tech’s President, for a total of fifteen members. Mr. Perry is filling the student position, which will be left vacant by Nicole Galster, a bachelor’s degree student who is graduating in June.

Mr. Perry grew up in Dallas, Oregon and graduated from Santiam Christian High School. He received honor roll status while in high school and participated in track and cross country - earning him PacWest Scholar Athlete status. He is currently a sophomore pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Oregon Tech and expects to graduate in June 2019. He is currently part of the American Society for Civil Engineers-Associated General Contractors (ASCE-AGC) student chapter, which involves coordinating and executing events throughout the school year, as well as planning the 2018 ASCE regional conference to be held in Klamath Falls.

Mr. Perry says that he enjoys exploring Oregon's wilderness on the east side of the state as well as following well-beaten paths on the west side of the state. After graduating, Mr. Perry’s dream job is to work for Disney Imagineers designing theme parks.

In other Board of Trustees’ news, Board member Bill Goloski has been confirmed for another term as staff representative for the university. Trustee Goloski’s new term will run July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019. For more information on Oregon Tech Board members, go to www.oit.edu/trustees.
