Oregon Tech developed two new graduate programs to address environmental concerns in the Klamath Basin. Enrollment is now open for the Master of Science in Natural Resources and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences.

The Master of Science in Natural Resources (MS NR) is designed to tackle issues such as wildfires, drought, water resources, and endangered species management. The program offers a three plus two-year option for current Oregon Tech undergraduates in environmental sciences to obtain a graduate degree and a two-year standalone program for students with relevant undergraduate credits from other institutions.

The second program introduced by Oregon Tech is the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MS BMS). This program, which offers both thesis and non-thesis tracks, prepares students for careers in healthcare or advanced studies in the biomedical field.

By providing access to higher education in biomedical sciences in rural areas, Oregon Tech aims to equip graduates with the skills and training needed to address healthcare challenges within their communities.

Natural Sciences Department Chair Nate Bickford anticipates that many students attracted to this program will be from the local region and/or from Oregon Tech’s biology/science programs and will help establish services in rural and underserved areas of the state.

Enrollment for both programs is currently open for Fall 2024.
