This week, our “Voices of Oregon Tech” video series celebrates legacy, service, and the powerful ways education can shape generations. Meet The Mick Family, a family whose story is deeply woven into the fabric of Oregon Tech. Brenda (Ruppel) Mick, Class of 1997, was part of Oregon Tech’s very first Medical Imaging Technology cohort. For the past 25 years, she has served patients as an ultrasound technologist at Sky Lakes Medical Center, improving lives through compassionate, hands-on care.

Oregon Tech Foundation 2025 Wrapped 💙💛 As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on the moments that made this year truly meaningful. One of our favorites was celebrating students like Sofia Audeh, whose journey was supported by scholarships made possible through the Oregon Tech Foundation. This year, we proudly awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships to Oregon Tech students, opening doors and easing financial burdens.

c/o 2026 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Let’s catch up with Nicole! “Hey guys! My name’s Nicole and I’m externing at Providence Portland Medical Center. Echo is important to me because I get to help those struggling with various cardiac diseases and support them in their treatment journey. An interesting study that I got to see was a pericardiocentesis with a gelatinous pericardial fluid and septations. When I’m not scanning at the hospital, I enjoy baking, watching movies, and thrifting. My advice to anyone interested in echo is to come and see and ask questions!” #echocardiography #oregontech

c/o 2026 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Let’s catch up with Katelyn! “Hi! My name is Katelyn and I am currently completing my externship at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. Echo is important to me because I feel like I can make a real difference in patients’ lives and play an active role in their recovery. An interesting study I saw recently was an acute MI that led to a papillary muscle rupture, resulting in a flail mitral valve leaflet, and severe mitral regurgitation. After a long day at work, I decompress by relaxing and watching a movie.

c/o 2026 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Let’s catch up with Alyssa! “My name is Alyssa Brown. I am currently at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. Echo is important to me because it helps connect the clinical picture with real time physiology which will help guide the patient’s course of treatment. An interesting study I’ve seen is a PDA closure on a 30-year-old male patient after an incidental PDA was identified on the prior transthoracic echocardiogram. Outside of echo, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, trying out new restaurants, and exploring Idaho.

c/o 2026 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Let’s catch up with Ry! “I’m Ry, my externship site is St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, Washington. Echo is important to me because we play a crucial role in the discovery and diagnosis of so many different diseases. I recently got to see emergency open heart surgery in the cath lab which was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. When I’m not at the hospital, I enjoy climbing, thrifting and exploring Washington. My advice for anyone interested in echo is to come observe an echo lab to see what it’s all about!” #echocardiograpgy #oregontech
