Oregon Tech is embarking on a fundraising project that will have an immense impact on the community as well as the University. Our $1.6 million renovation of the Oregon Tech track and field facilities creates an exciting opportunity for generous philanthropic support from our loyal fans and supporters like YOU.

Community Affair

The revitalized track and field will allow Klamath Falls to be synonymous with Elite Track and Field competition. The facility is a community asset that benefits all University students, faculty, and staff; the broader Klamath Falls community; as well as the entire region. While building community pride and enhancing local economic revenue through increased visitors to the region, a new track with enhanced facilities allows for the return of community events like high school championships, fundraisers, concerts or sports camps could be hosted at the site.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, we have all learned of the increased value of outdoor gathering space that allows for fresh air and social distancing. This new track and field will strengthen student recruitment and retention efforts, highlighting Oregon Tech’s distinctive real-world education and the value that it brings to even more talented students.

Olympic Size Support

Joining together to endorse the track and field facility renovation are Olympic Gold Medalists and world-record holders, Dan O’Brien and Ashton Eaton. Dan and Ashton have united with Oregon Tech’s broad base of community supporters to promote the University’s next strategic athletic project to restore the track and field facility.

Ashton and Dan are both from small towns in Oregon and their enthusiastic endorsement of this project shows its potential value, both to Oregon Tech and to the entire region. Attending a home track meet is a thrill for all comers, including kids seeing their first 100m final to Oregon Tech’s very own athletes competing with their own crowd cheering them on to run faster, jump higher, and throw farther. This is a golden opportunity to bring Track and Field back home to Oregon Tech. Join us.

Securing Oregon Tech’s Future

The top-notch Track and Field program continues to recruit an average of 55 stellar student-athletes who excel in speed, strength and physical endurance. A new track and field with improved facilities enables further growth opportunities for the program allowing for more than 80 track, field and cross country student-athletes. Increasing enrollment is important to a healthy institution and fits perfectly within Oregon Tech’s Strategic Plan. Meanwhile, participation in athletics provides additional belonging and benefits to student-athletes.

Track and field gives exposure to elite athletes. Even the smallest schools can place their athletes on the biggest stage, and let their times and measures do the talking. The renovated track and field may even help discover the next Dan O’Brien or Ashton Eaton. Hidden gems in Oregon that just need a place to compete.

The renovation for the track means a lot to me because over the time that I’ve been here, we’ve advanced our program to be exceptional. Our coach has done a lot of great work to make us into the elite programs that we are today. Having a new track goes into advancing the success and the future potential that we can have as athletes.
