Anwen Jones joined Oregon Tech in April as an academic advisor and retention coordinator on the Portland-Metro Campus. She has a background in education as a college admissions mentor, writing and English Language Arts tutor, and a teacher for students across the age spectrum.
Anwen Jones holds a master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Florida State University, where she taught first-year writing, tutored in the Reading-Writing Center and Digital Studio, and served as a graduate student administrator of the Digital Studio. She is passionate about justice-oriented education and increasing access to higher education for students from marginalized communities. In particular, Anwen brings a strong theoretical and practical background in disability studies and disability justice to her advising role, where she is excited to support students and faculty at Oregon Tech.
Returning to her hometown of Portland, Anwen is a passionate community organizer and advocate who loves cats, crocheting, embroidery, and all other fiber arts she can get her hands on.
