Danny Shapiro joined Oregon Tech in the Winter term as a Counselor at the Integrated Student Health Center. They have three years of experience in Student Affairs and Student Health, having provided direct and group therapeutic services for the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Health Center as well as having advocated for students and provided programming from within the lens of UGA’s Multicultural Services and Programs in addition to UGA’s Pride Center.
Danny earned their Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia and embraces Queer Theory and Feminist theoretical approaches in their clinical practice. They centralize strengths-based, person-centered therapy and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and quite possibly a few others.
Originally from Philadelphia, Danny enjoys metal music, tabletop role-playing games,
painting miniature goblins, paddleboarding, and cooking vegan food. Oh, and they love frogs
