Dr. Alp is the Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Management at Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech). She joined Oregon Tech in January 2024, coming from the Pennsylvania College of Technology where she served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. Prior to this, she held the position of Dean at the Bailey College of Engineering and Technology at Indiana State University from 2018 to 2022 and was Associate Dean and Professor in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1999 to 2018.
Dr. Alp holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management and a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, along with a Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla. She is a prolific scholar with over 100 publications and has secured more than $50 million in grants and gifts throughout her career. Dr. Alp has extensive experience in online education and has successfully elevated several programs to achieve national rankings. She has also developed and significantly expanded several new programs, including Construction Management, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Data Science, and Computational Science, leading to their exponential growth.
Her contributions to STEM have been recognized through multiple awards in teaching, research, service, and diversity, underscoring her impact as a female leader in the field. Furthermore, Dr. Alp has been honored as a Fellow of the American Society for Engineering Management. She is a licensed Professional Engineer and serves as a Program Evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and Middle State Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
