Dr. Su Jin Lee is an Assistant Professor and the director of the GIS program in the Department of Geomatics at the Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, Oregon. In 2012, he earned a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Southern California, focusing on geospatial science. This followed his earlier academic achievements with a Master's and Bachelor's in Earth and Marine Sciences from Hanyang University in Korea.
Dr. Lee has an extensive teaching portfolio, having held instructional roles across multiple institutions. These include full-time lecturing at the University of Southern California for 9 years and part-time professorships and lectureships at Ventura College, Moorpark College, the University of Minnesota Duluth, and California State University Long Beach. His course repertoire spans various aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), digital cartography, remote sensing, geospatial technology, and environmental studies, tailored for both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Lee's research is a significant part of his professional life, with a particular focus on the interaction between human activities and the environment. His research interests span a wide range of topics, including climate change, drought, wildfire, land use and land cover change, population growth, urban development, and environmental justice. He leverages advanced spatial data acquisition and geospatial technologies in his research, leading to substantial advancements in these fields.
