For the second year in a row, Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) is pleased to welcome its largest freshman class during the last four decades – this year with a 4% increase over fall 2024.

This fall, 5,444 students enrolled at Oregon Tech, representing a 2.7% increase in total headcount. The most significant increases were seen in online enrollment and at Oregon Tech’s Klamath Falls campus. The university also remains dedicated to serving high school students enrolled in college courses through Oregon Tech’s dual credit program, which increased 1.4%.

“At Oregon Tech, the value proposition of our degree programs and the excellence of our applied learning pedagogy attract students who want their education and degrees to matter,” said Dr. Nagi Naganathan, President of Oregon Tech. “These enrollment gains affirm that more students recognize the value of a polytechnic education where knowledge becomes action and learning leads to real impact. We are encouraged by this growth and look forward to the opportunities it creates for our students and for the communities we serve.”

Oregon Tech’s Associate Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success, Dr. Greg Stringer, noted that the university’s new direct admission process for dual credit students is an important part of ongoing enrollment initiatives. The process allows high school students taking Oregon Tech courses through their schools to be automatically admitted without submitting a separate application, creating a more seamless transition to college.

“One of the changes SEM has recently implemented is more direct admission access for students interested in Oregon Tech,” Stringer said. “By simplifying the path from high school to Oregon Tech, we remove barriers that can prevent students from taking the next step. This approach helps more Oregon students see themselves continuing at Oregon Tech and contributes to stronger, sustained enrollment.”

The University’s larger student populations are in Klamath Falls, Portland-Metro, and Online. Sites in Salem at Chemeketa Community College and Seattle at Boeing also serve students who benefit from targeted programs designed to meet specific industry and community needs.

President Naganathan added that as Oregon Tech grows, the university continues to invest in equipping students to become distinctive professionals with the knowledge and skillsets necessary to make a difference in the communities they serve.

“Oregon Tech’s holistic approach is about improving the human condition: empowering students to gain skills, confidence, and character to make a meaningful difference in all they do; partnering with industry and community so that innovation benefits everyone; advancing health, sustainability, and quality of life through applied research; and nurturing a culture of integrity, curiosity, and service as tomorrow’s leaders in our society,” President Naganathan said.
