Vanessa Bennett
Salem, OR Vanessa Bennett, assistant professor of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging at Oregon Institute of Technology, “Oregon Tech,” recently received appointment to the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging, with her official term beginning July 1. Professor Bennett replaces colleague Rick Hoylman and joins fellow Oregon Tech Medical Imaging Technology faculty member, Robyn Cole, who serves as a sonography representative.

The mission of the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging is to promote, preserve and protect the public health, safety and welfare of Oregonians who are undergoing medical imaging studies performed by agency licensees for the purpose of medical diagnosis and therapy.

Her role on the Board will include a 3-year commitment to work with other members to address issues that affect policies, procedures and requirements for technologists throughout the state.

"It's really an exciting opportunity to be involved with medical imaging at the state level," said Professor Bennett. "It's been my passion since I was a student to help improve patient and public health through the education of incoming technologists."

Bennett has over 10 years of experience in the field of nuclear medicine, teaching at Oregon Tech after gaining her Bachelor of Science degree at the University before continuing to Western Governors University for her Master of Education. She is also a certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist and serves as faculty advisor for the on-campus Nuclear Medicine Student Club.
