Coming in the fall of 2018, the Oregon Tech Softball Field will sport exciting improvements made possible thanks to the generosity of longtime supporters and athletic fans, John and Lois Stilwell.
This project also aligns appropriately with campus beautification plans President Naganathan has identified to promote university pride and elevate our campuses to be the preferred destinations for students, employees and the community. Such goals cannot be achieved without the partnership and support of the community, alumni, and donors.
President Naganathan shared with the campus the commitment made by Mr. Stilwell: “I am delighted to share with you that Mr. John Stilwell is making a major gift in support of our students and their safety and quality of life. On behalf of the entire Oregon Tech family, I have the pleasure of thanking Mr. John Stilwell and his late wife, Lois, for their philanthropic investment which will enable a much needed renovation of the softball field on our Klamath Falls campus. Coming in the fall of 2018, the Oregon Tech Softball Field will sport a new turf field, bull pens, wrap around bleachers with a press box, improved walkways and a field house.”
Head Softball Coach Greg Stewart said, "Oregon Tech Softball will now be able to reach another level of excellence in the form of a state-of-the-art turf softball field and a renovated complex due to a major gift from Oregon Tech fans, John and Lois Stilwell. I am overwhelmed thinking about what this new facility will mean to Oregon Tech and it will be a testimony to all the alumni that were a part in making Oregon Tech Softball what it is today."
The Stilwells already support nine endowed scholarships at Oregon Tech and were also contributors to other projects including the Martha Anne Dow Center for Health Professions. Mr. Stilwell’s lead gift along with other donations will provide more than 80 percent of the funds toward the project’s estimated cost of $1.1 million. The renovations will begin at the conclusion of the home season in mid-May and work will continue throughout the summer to complete the renovation by September.
