Oregon Tech is pleased to announce the addition of Suzanne Kunse and Shane O’Brien to its Government Relations team. Kunse will serve as Associate Vice President of Government and Community Relations, and O’Brien joins as Associate Director of Government and Community Relations. Both bring extensive experience and a strong commitment to advancing Oregon Tech’s statewide mission.
“Kunse and O’Brien play important roles in strengthening Oregon Tech’s connections with government and community partners, supporting our students, and advancing our mission and vision as a worldclass polytechnic university,” said Oregon Tech President Nagi Naganathan. “They will spend significant time in Salem, working with policymakers and advocating for the university and its communities.”
Kunse brings over 20 years of experience in government relations. She has held key positions, including Chief of Staff for State Representative Daniel Nguyen, Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, and District Director for both U.S. Congressman Kurt Schrader and Congresswoman Darlene Hooley. In earlier roles, Kunse also served as Field Representative and Legislative Aide. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Portland State University.
O’Brien joins Oregon Tech with more than 10 years of experience in legislative and campaign management. His most recent role was Chief of Staff for Senator Aaron Woods. He has also served as Campaign Manager for Senator Woods, Kurt Schrader, and Paul Southwick and as Chief of Staff for Representative Brent Barton. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Portland State University.
