

Dr. Slobodan Petrovic is a professor in electrical and renewable energy engineering at Oregon Tech. Dr. Petrovic has over 35 years of experience in broad areas of science and technology, as well as in international development and humanitarian projects. He is a distinguished technical leader and researcher with over 100 publications and conference proceedings: more than 250 various presentations, short courses, and six textbooks on batteries, electrochemistry, renewable energy, and PV systems. Dr. Petrovic also has over 30 US and international patents in semiconductor devices, MEMS devices fabrication, packaging and reliability, chemical and biological sensors, fuel cells, applied electrochemistry, and electrocatalysis.
Dr. Petrovic has been teaching renewable energy for 20 years after a distinguished career in the industry. Prior to joining the Renewable Energy Engineering at Oregon Tech, Professor Petrovic was a co-creator and a professor of Alternative Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. During his industry career, he held positions as a Distinguished Researcher, Chief Technology Officer, and Vice President of Engineering, and he has a proven record of the ability to bring a product from the conception phase to the market.

Dr. Petrovic is also a Founder and President of the non-profit organization Solar Hope (www.solar-hope.org), dedicated to helping developing countries through the use of renewable energy. In addition, he is a Director at the Climate Institute (climate.org), another non-profit organization at the forefront of education and development of emerging technologies related to climate protection and renewable energy. He has worked extensively in developing countries, mainly in Africa, and led groups of OIT students on projects in those countries. Under the leadership of Professor Petrovic, over 120 solar PV installations were accomplished, impacting more than 1,000,000 people.
