Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Riley Richards, Assistant Professor in Communication Studies Originally from Greenville, Mich., Dr. Riley Richards came to Oregon Tech with what he refers to as “formal teaching methods,” including lecturing and keeping concepts theoretical. “To say that this teaching style didn’t go over well with students during my first few weeks would be an understatement,” said Richards. Oregon Tech prides itself on hands-on, project-based learning, and Richards has now successfully transitioned to this style in his Communication Studies courses.

To celebrate #OregonTech75 we are continuing our “Then and Now” series, showcasing life at Oregon Tech through all of its different identities and unbelievable moments. 🏀 Our Oregon Tech Men’s Basketball Team is ALSO celebrating 75 years, as they were founded along with the school in 1947, back when we were known as the Oregon Vocational School. Our Women’s basketball team wouldn’t be founded until 1975 (seriously, what took us so long?!) (Via the Athletic Heritage Hall on the Oregon Tech website).
