The Office of Academic Advising and Retention helps serve Oregon Tech students, staff, and faculty in a variety of ways. You are welcome to make an appointment with one of our advisors using our scheduling links, check out the different areas that we advise, and drop into our offices.
Who We Serve
The Office of Academic Advising and Retention serves all current Oregon Tech students in different capacities as they progress through their degrees at Oregon Tech. Secondary Academic advisors are assigned to most students. You can check who your secondary Academic Advisor is, when you check your registration information on Web for Student.
If you are a TOP student, then you will have a secondary advisor assigned from that department.
If you are a non-degree-seeking student – please reach out to the department or the Registrar’s Office for assistance in registration and course selection.
If you are a prospective student looking to get some insight into your degree program or how credits transfer, please connect with the Admissions Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 800.422.2017. They can connect you to a Faculty Advisor who can answer your questions based on your major.
How Secondary Academic Advising Works
At Oregon Tech you have both a Faculty Advisor in your program and a secondary Academic Advisor within the Office of Academic Advising.
Your Faculty Advisor is there to talk to you about your field of study, course content, and give final approval on the courses you plan to take each term.
Secondary Academic Advisors are here to help you connect with your faculty advisor, give general advising, and will help you find and use campus resources effectively; they are your best contact for understanding school policies and procedures, managing logistical issues, as well as, answering general questions about how to navigate the university.
