A Little Bit About Me

I grew up in John Day, Oregon, most of my life and went to Grant Union High School. Throughout school, I participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field, 4-H, national honor society, student council, and science club. Growing up in a small town shaped me to who I am today, and I want to eventually move back home. I spent the majority of my time in sports so I hope to get back into sports, whether that be a club or coaching a kids' team. I also spent a lot of time dedicated to 4-H and raising a market steer each year. Academically I am interested in science and some arts, which led me to study health sciences my freshman year. Some of my hobbies that I continue now are baking, scrapbooking, working out, and enjoying the outdoors.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I spent my freshman year at Boise State University studying health sciences. However, after deciding to study dental hygiene I knew I needed to change schools. I chose Oregon Tech because I have heard great things about their dental hygiene program, and I also have friends who go to Oregon Tech. I chose dental hygiene because I am very detail-oriented and a perfectionist which fits with dental hygiene well.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduating with a bachelor's in dental hygiene I plan to work in Klamath Falls or Bend, practicing dental hygiene for a couple of years. I think it is important to spend time traveling when I can. After some time, I plan to move back to John Day, where I would like to start a family. I would love to live close to my family to have their support and have my kids grow up where I did. Here I would continue my career as a dental hygienist at a local dentist in town so I can have a good balance of work and home time.
