Extracurricular Activities

Dance has always been one of my main extracurricular activities. I’ve been an avid dancer since the age of four, starting with ballet and later dancing with a halou and for my school. All throughout high school, I was a part of my school's dance team. My senior year, our team won two state titles in 6A Jazz and Kick. We also competed at Nationals that same year and took first place with our fight song routine. Being on the team has taught me so much about teamwork, dedication, and work ethic. Along with dance, I was also a member of several clubs, including National Honors Society and I was an honors student. I’ve taken sewing lessons since I was twelve and enjoy going on hikes and bike rides in my free time as well as simply relaxing at home and watching movies.

A Little Bit About Me

I live in a family of four and have a pet dog. I went to a Japanese elementary school called Yujin Gakuen, where I learned to read, write, and speak in Japanese. Being part Japanese, it was very important to my family that my brother and I be educated on our culture. I am also part Swedish but don’t know much about that side of my heritage. In high school I was an honors student, member of National Honors Society, and a part of my school's dance team, the Sheldon Colleen’s. In my free time, I like to watch movies, listen to music, write, sew, go on bike rides, and hike.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

Oregon Tech, for me, was the perfect college to fit my needs. I fell in love with the campus and the school's goal to make learning more hands-on, better preparing their students for their careers. I chose medical imaging because I have spent a lot of time surrounded by this type of equipment as a patient. I want to help people and other healthcare providers in any way I can, and this job gives me the ability to.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduation, I plan to hopefully stay in Oregon where I can be close to family. I want to start working right away and get my feet in the industry. I don’t know where I’ll work yet but I’d like to say at a clinic in a bigger city. Hopefully along the way, I will find people that make me happy and that can become part of my life. I plan to work for as long as I can and if other things like having a family come along the way, then I guess that will be a whole other adventure.
