What did you like most about Oregon Tech?
What I liked most about OIT was the people. Oregon Tech provided me with the opportunity to meet some truly incredible individuals. Whether in my core classes or electives, I was consistently surrounded by students and faculty who were not only passionate about their fields but also supportive and collaborative. These connections led to lifelong friendships, which have been the most rewarding part of my time at OIT. I’m grateful for the diverse perspectives I encountered, the teamwork that enriched my learning experience, and the lasting relationships that will continue to shape my personal and professional life.
What did you find the most useful or beneficial?
While it may sound repetitive, the most beneficial aspect of my college experience at OIT was the connections I made. The smaller class sizes allowed me to build meaningful relationships with both professors and fellow students. A great example of this is my involvement in the Well-Being program. Initially, I joined the program to meet my applied experience requirements, as recommended by friends. However, it turned out to be much more than just a way to check off credits. The program provided me with valuable skills, such as leadership, communication, and stress management, which are essential for success in my career. Beyond the skills, I was able to view unique perspectives shared by the program’s participants, who came from diverse backgrounds. The supportive, positive atmosphere of my peers further enriched my experience, creating a sense of community and collaboration that I’ll carry with me long after graduation.
Where do you work/ what is your job now?
I now work at Klamath Community College as the Career Advisor. In my new role, I support students in achieving their career goals through career exploration, skills/interest assessments, instructing the Cooperative Work Experience course (internships/applied experience), and facilitating internship placements. Overall, my job provides me with the privilege to interact daily with both staff/students at KCC and the Klamath Basin community!
