Extracurricular Activities

In my free time, I enjoy staying active and involved through a variety of extracurricular activities. I support my son’s athletic journey by attending his baseball games and wrestling matches, which has been both exciting and rewarding. I also volunteer with my sons 3rd grade class events whenever possible, helping to create a positive environment for students and families. In addition, I enjoy hiking and backpacking with a close friend, which allows me to stay connected with nature and recharge outside of my daily routine.

A Little Bit About Me

I’m a single mom to an amazing 8-year-old boy who inspires me every day. I returned to school in 2017, shortly after his birth, to complete my prerequisites and pursue a career in dental hygiene. Paying out of pocket meant it took me a few years, but I was determined to reach my goals. My journey has been filled with hard work and perseverance, driven by my desire to create a better future for both myself and my son. I’m committed to becoming the best version of myself for him and for the patients I will one day serve.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech for its bachelor’s program in dental hygiene and the opportunity to earn my restorative license. The extra year of education is worth it to gain advanced skills and better prepare for my future career. Oregon Tech offers strong clinical training and the support I need to succeed as a dental hygienist.

My Influential Professors

I’ve really enjoyed learning from all the professors at the Oregon Tech Salem campus. They each bring valuable knowledge and experience to the classroom, and it’s clear they genuinely want us to succeed. Their support and dedication have helped me build confidence and a strong understanding of my responsibilities as a future dental hygienist.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

At Oregon Tech, I’ve built a strong foundation for my dental hygiene career through hands-on clinical experience and rigorous coursework. I’m also pursuing a minor in psychology to better understand patient behavior and improve communication. This combination strengthens my ability to provide compassionate, effective care and prepares me for success in the field.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduating, I plan to work in community outreach programs, especially those focused on children. I’m passionate about helping young individuals build confidence through education and improved oral health. My goal is to make a lasting impact by promoting healthy habits and giving others the tools they need to achieve a healthier, brighter smile.
