Extracurricular Activities
During my first few years at Oregon Tech, I was a Hustlin' Owl on the cross country and track team. Since my senior externship is located in Roseburg, OR, I was unable to participate in any athletics for the 2023-2024 school year. My time as an athlete at Oregon Tech taught me about teamwork, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills; all of which are crucial for success in the real world.
A Little Bit About Me
I love to spend my spare time outdoors. During the summer, I enjoy sunbathing, hiking, concerts, barbecues with good company, and going on beach vacations. Although the warmer months are preferred, I look forward to skiing and sledding during the wintertime.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I was drawn to this field because x-ray plays a vital role in the healthcare system by assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions, potentially saving lives. A degree in radiology also opens up several other rewarding career options. To pursue this, I knew Oregon Tech was going to provide me with the most applicable knowledge needed to succeed in this field. The hands-on experience that we gain at this university and on our eleven-month externship is truly invaluable.
My Influential Professors
One of my most influential professors is Debbie McCollam. Debbie has a genuine passion for teaching and is dedicated to helping students learn and succeed. Her enthusiasm for radiology is infectious and motivates students to excel.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experiences at Oregon Tech were down in the radiology lab with my best friends in the program. We spent countless hours before and after classes trying to perfect our positioning on each other for general x-ray before every competency exam.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduating with my degree, I will gain my post primary certification in a special modality. I plan to acquire a full-time position at the hospital back in my hometown. I considered pursuing a career as a travel tech for a few years, but we will have to wait and see what the future holds!
