A Little Bit About Me
I grew up in Southwest Portland and moved out to Canby about 5 years ago. I enjoy gardening and going for long walks with my dog. I love getting to meet new people and I'm thankful that Oregon Tech has given me ample opportunity to do so. I enjoy being challenged and solving problems, which is a big part of what drew me to software development.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
Previous to applying at Oregon Tech I was taking courses at PCC. I had decided I wanted to go into software development when some friends and I started developing a video game. I decided to learn some programming to make it easier and I loved it. I first heard of Oregon Tech when Professor Nguyen came to PCC and gave a presentation about it. I liked the hands-on learning style and the junior and senior projects.
My Influential Professors
My two influential professors are David Johnston and Phong Nguyen. Professor Johnston is one of the most understanding, compassionate individuals I have ever met. He makes learning fun and easy. He genuinely cares about his students and wants nothing more than to help them learn. Professor Nguyen is always involved in campus events. He loves singing and playing instruments on campus. During his classes he shows fun videos that he's made with his family. He loves making sure that everyone is having a good time.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience was a group project for Concepts of Computer Programming Languages. My group decided to design and implement a travel application centered around finding attractions. It was a great experience getting to work as part of a team to create something we were all interested in. We got a good feeling for how the application development process goes and a new appreciation for how many obstacles there are to overcome.
My Plans After Graduation
After I graduate I would primarily like to work in the Aerospace industry. Though to be honest, I would be happy with just about anything involving software development. I look forward to being able to provide a better quality of life for my parents during their retirement. I'd also love to start traveling. As part of a large community of PC gamers I have cultivated friendships with individuals all over the globe. I hope to be able to visit some of them.
