Dr. Naga Korivi, Ph.D.

Director, Oregon Renewable Energy Center (OREC)

Naga Korivi serves as the Director of the Oregon Renewable Energy Center (OREC). He also serves as the Chair of the Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy (EERE) Department at Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech). Dr. Korivi holds an appointment as an Associate Professor in the EERE Department. He joined Oregon Tech in 2023.

Dr. Korivi is experienced in developing and leading externally funded research and training programs, and workforce development initiatives in the advanced technology sectors. His various initiatives have been funded for more than $8 M till date, including at least $2 M at Oregon Tech. Funding organizations include the National Science Foundation, US Department of Homeland Security, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Intel Corp.

Dr. Korivi has an interdisciplinary background with a track record of innovation in several fields. Dr. Korivi's renewable energy innovation portfolio includes several firsts in the fields of photovoltaics, energy storage, piezoelectric energy harvesting and clean tech manufacturing. Dr. Korivi invented a nanotechnology-based approach to improve solar cell conversion efficiency, receiving a US patent for this innovation in 2022. He demonstrated the first waste-derived 3D printed solid-state supercapacitor using activated carbon derived from packaging waste. Dr. Korivi led the team that developed the first of its kind 3D printed ternary polymer composite and demonstrated its application in piezoelectric energy generation.
