Extracurricular Activities

During high school, I was a part of various extracurricular activities including varsity volleyball, basketball, softball, track and field, as well as varsity theater/drama. In addition to sports, I was also inducted into the National Honors Society my junior year of high school. Outside of school, I played piano for multiple services throughout the years. I also enjoy hiking, playing card and board games, and spending time with my family and friends.

A Little Bit About Me

My name is Ava Silbernagel and I am from the small town of Stayton, Oregon. Growing up in the Willamette Valley, I have been immersed in an agricultural environment my entire life. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking, camping, and being outdoors. In addition to being outdoors, I love playing the piano. In 2022, I graduated from Regis High School, and in the same year began my college journey at Oregon Tech. In my future career as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, I hope to positively make a difference in my patient's lives, to allow them to live their lives to the fullest.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech because I wanted to pursue a career in medical imaging. During my first year of college, I shadowed in clinics and observed labs at Oregon Tech to figure out what medical imaging modality I wanted to pursue a career in. While shadowing, I fell in love with the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging department and its specialized study of the function of different parts of the human body.

My Influential Professors

The professors at Oregon Tech that have influenced me the most are Professor McClure and Professor Hoylman because they have always been there to help me when I need it.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech has been learning the ins and outs of college. As a first generation college student, I had to learn how to apply to college, how college works, and how to fund my education on my own.

My Plans After Graduation

After I graduate with my degree, I plan on working in a hospital setting near my hometown in Stayton, Oregon. Later on in life, I hope to be able to travel to different countries and do volunteer work there.
