Can you tell us about yourself?
I’m a first-generation college student from Klamath Falls, studying Business Marketing and Management with a minor in Psychology at Oregon Tech. I’ve worked in healthcare as a diet aide and helped run my family’s small business, which gave me early experience with leadership, responsibility, and real-world problem-solving. I’m passionate about law, business strategy, and cultural understanding. I aim to become a patent or corporate lawyer and eventually take on a leadership role where I can make a positive impact. Outside academics, I enjoy bodybuilding, archery, traveling to historical sites, and game development. I’m incredibly grateful for this scholarship—it helps ease the financial burden and brings me one step closer to achieving my goals.
Why did you choose Oregon Tech and your major?
I chose Oregon Tech because it’s local, affordable, and has the resources I need right now. It also offers a business program that aligns with my career goals. Oregon Tech is a solid starting point where I can build a strong foundation and grow through hands-on experience and focused instruction.
Who are your influential professors?
Two professors who’ve influenced me most at Oregon Tech are Dr. Alishia Huntoon and Professor Don Stockton. Dr. Huntoon made psychology engaging and relevant to real life, helping me understand human behavior more deeply. Professor Stockton made economics click with clear explanations and real-world examples. Both challenged me to think critically and made their subjects enjoyable and memorable.
What has been your greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech?
One of my most extraordinary learning experiences has been managing real responsibilities early on through my family’s small business. From payroll to problem-solving, I developed leadership and adaptability. At Oregon Tech, I bring those skills and a global perspective shaped by travel and cultural diversity. These experiences help me think critically and contribute meaningfully to class discussions and group work.
What are your plans for the future after graduating with your degree?
After graduating, I plan to attend law school to become a patent or corporate lawyer. I aim to combine my business background with legal expertise to support innovation and ethical leadership. I also want to continue building my public speaking and leadership skills to eventually take on a high-level role in government or a major company.
You received a Foundation Scholarship - can you explain how that impacted you?
Receiving this scholarship means so much to me. As a first-generation college student, it lifts a huge financial weight and allows me to focus more on my education and future goals. I’m working hard to become a patent or corporate lawyer, and support like this helps make that path possible. It also reminds me that others believe in what I’m trying to achieve, which is incredibly motivating. Thank you so much for your generosity—your support is helping me now and shaping the future I’m working hard to build.
