Brooke Young
Class of 2018, Health Informatics
After graduating in December with a B.S. in Healthcare Management, Brooke Young has been employed at Pacific Women's Center in Eugene, Oregon. As Brooke explains, “I am excited to say that I am leading a team of people working on MIPS attestation (a healthcare quality payment plan), just like my senior project report!” In a nutshell, Brooke is in charge of choosing the measures the clinic will use to submit data and inform staff members of any changes that are necessary to capture the medical data. This just goes to show how our tech-infused business degrees differentiate Oregon Tech graduates in the workplace.
Given her senior project, Brooke explained, “I'm so glad I was able to research this topic and walk into my job with some background--it has helped a lot.” Brooke is learning a lot along the way and hopes her current position at Pacific Women’s Center will lead to a great career.
In a recent correspondence to various faculty members, Brooke wrote, “Thank you again for all of your time, support, and expertise during my time at Oregon Tech.”
Raena Rodgers
Class of 2016, Marketing
Raena Rodgers is pictured on the streets of Havana, Cuba during a recent trip abroad. After graduating in 2016 with a B.S. in Business Management/Marketing degree, Raena took almost a year off and traveled to different places throughout the United States, Thailand, and Laos before settling down in Klamath Falls.
Raena currently works as a marketing manager at Discover Klamath--Klamath County’s premier destination marketing organization. As Raena explains, “My day-to-day job ranges from creating and scheduling content across multiple social media channels, developing itineraries, attending packaged travel and consumer shows, working with local businesses and venues, and collaborating with other counties on how to best promote Klamath County and our Southern Oregon/Northern California region as a whole.”
“Because of my love of travel, I thoroughly enjoy working in the travel and tourism industry and sharing with other visitors all there is to do in our area.”
Melissa Ceron
Class of 2016, Accounting
Melissa Ceron graduated in 2016 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. Melissa loves her job at JELD-WEN as a Financial Accountant where she prepares financial statements for the corporate information technology division as well as the risk management division.
When it comes to her job, Melissa explains, “What I enjoy the most about accounting for IT is that I have the opportunity to be on the forefront of emerging technology. I get to learn about cool new IT projects, and also play a key role when it comes to preparing budgets, forecasts, and tracking the actuals of these projects on a monthly basis.”
In addition to her work at JELD-WEN, Melissa also serves as a member of the Oregon 529 Savings Network Board. The Network oversees the Oregon College Savings Plan as well as the Oregon ABLE savings plan.
As Melissa explains, “I can definitely say that my degree from Oregon Tech truly prepared me for work in private and public accounting. I am confident in the work I do and am always excited to see where my education and experience will take me next!”
Ben Krueger
Class of 2015, Marketing
Here is Ben Krueger who graduated in 2015 from Oregon Tech with a B.S. in Business Management/Marketing, while also receiving a minor in Communication Studies and competing on the Oregon Tech Baseball team. He graduated with honors.
Since returning to Seattle after graduation, Ben has been working for Paycom as a Sales Account Manager where he continues to manage a portfolio of roughly 100 Payroll clients in the Pacific Northwest. In 2017, Paycom landed the #2 spot on Fortune's 100 Fastest Growing Companies—which ranks publicly traded companies by three years’ growth in revenues, profits, and stock returns. In his current position, Ben provides financial application solutions to businesses and assists in managing the entire employee lifecycle from hire to retire.
Ben recently founded Mercedes-Benz of Seattle Baseball Club, managing the program's inaugural 18U team. His program provides Greater Seattle student-athletes year-round training, academic prep, and individualized counseling throughout the college recruiting process. His mission is to give back to the baseball community and to equip his student-athletes with the tools needed to be highly successful both on and off the diamond.
Ben thanks the entire business management department for his early success, crediting Don DaSaro, Hallie Neupert and Kristy Weidman for their mentorship and dedication to his education at Oregon Tech.
