The BS in Health Care Management prepares graduates for a variety of career options in the rapidly growing health care industry, where health service managers are in high demand. The curriculum is designed to prepare future health care managers for planning, directing, and coordinating medical and health services. Graduates may manage an entire facility, or a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of providers.

The Health Care Management graduate is prepared to:

  • Assume managerial and supervisory positions in the healthcare industry.
  • Direct and coordinate medical and health services.
  • Manage an entire facility, a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of providers.

Program Options

For students whose interests lie in business and health care administration. The curriculum is designed to prepare the graduate for entry- and mid-level management positions and/or for graduate programs in Health Care Administration, Hospital Administration or Public Health. Based on a core of common management courses, the program builds a broader base of understanding of health care in the U.S. and its systems, policies and challenges. Students choosing the Administration option also complete a Medical Sociology minor as part of their studies. During their senior year, students will complete a capstone project or internship.

The BS degree in Health Care Management, Administration Option is offered in Klamath Falls and online.

For those students with a current state and/or national registry or certification in an approved allied health field, the Clinical Option prepares Allied Health professionals for advancement to management or supervisory roles. During their senior year, students will complete a capstone project or internship.

The BS degree in Health Care Management, Clinical Option is offered in Klamath Falls and fully online.

For students who hold a current registry through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and who wish to enhance their career by obtaining a management degree with emphasis on management of a medical imaging facility or department. This program is designed for the radiologic technologist seeking skills and credentials that enable advancement to positions of middle management. During their senior year, students will complete a capstone project or internship.

The Radiologic Science Management option requires registration through the ARRT with good standing. The BS degree in Health Care Management, Radiologic Science Management Option is fully online with no requirement to come to campus and does not require clinical practice involving patient contact.

Positive Employment Projections

Employment of medical and health services managers is expected to grow by 22% from 2010-2020, faster than the average for all occupations. As the large baby-boom population ages and people remain active later in life, the healthcare industry as a whole will see an increase in the demand for medical services. Managers will be needed to organize and manage medical information and healthcare staff in all areas of the industry. (U.S. Dept. of Labor)

Graduates will be prepared to advance in their career with the Health Care Management degree. Duties involve the use of highly advanced technology, compassionate patient care, management of the lab/department and supervision of other technicians/technologists.
